It helps those who wear it to keep the mind focused and free from thoughts during meditation. The most used types of Japamalas are those with 108, 54, and 27 beads. The end of the Japamala is highlighted by a larger element called “Guru”, representing the “Master” or the “Sacred Mountain”.
